To promote self-sufficiency and enrich the lives of people with disabilities, or people who are economically or socially challenged, HandyCapable will provide training in and access to computer technology.
HandyCapable Network has 3 focus areas: we call it WIN-WIN-WIN!
WIN by Reusing and Recycling Computers - HandyCapable Network promotes the highest and best re-use of computers and electronic equipment. Usable items are redistributed back into the community and kept out of landfills.
WIN by Enriching Lives - The refurbishment training program enables individuals with various disabilities to thrive in a work-related environment. Our Handy Techs completely format all computers, replace faulty hardware, and install specialized software. This enables them to learn valuable technological skills and directly help others in the community.
WIN by Bridging the Digital Divide - We provide computers to families in need so they can be used for job skill development, job searching, children's homework, education, and fun. Additionally, HandyCapable's Computer Learning Centers provide training and computer access for people with a wide array of disabilities.
Three direct ways you can help
1) Donate your old (but usable!) desktops, laptops, monitors, and printers.
2) Check with your employer and friends to see if they have old computers.
3) Make a tax-deductible financial contribution.

WFMY News, June 2009: Guilford County Children Receive Free Computers
Children at a Guilford County school have their very own computers thanks to a community group. The school serves recently arrived immigrant students who are just learning to speak English. Twenty-four students received the refurbished computers and then learned how to use them, thanks to volunteers with the HandyCapable Network.
"I am so thankful that someone would give us a computer and I really want to say thank you", said Ramiss Mangal, a student at the GCS Newcomers School.
The school's principal tells us students look forward to using the computers. Jake Henry says the desktops enable students to further their education and their understanding of the English language.
"Many of our students have never had access to technology and they're just learning how to use computers.
